Well, it was sort of inevitable that sooner or later people would start setting
challenge caches based around the Church Micro series. I've created this
bookmark list
in addition to listing them on this page. If anyone sets a new one or spots one
that's missing, please let me, BaSHful, know.
Number found, possibly linked in to the awards.
Number found in a given period (day, week, month).
Something based on Terrain/Difficulty.
However, there are just two 3.5 terrain and none harder.
On the difficulty side there is very little above 3.0 and zero 4.5.
A variant on the Jasmer challenge.
The first Church Micros were placed in November 2007 and many placed in every month since then.
Different types of cache. While Traditionals and Multis make up the bulk,
between 2% and 3% are Puzzles and there are a few Wherigos, Letterbox Hybrid and,
as at November 2011, one Earthcache.
By country. The bulk are in England but there a goodly number in Wales,
a few in Northern Ireland, one in Scotland (as at November 2011)
and a few in Jersey and Guernsey.
By county. As at November 2011 we had 49: Antrim, Avon, Bedfordshire, Berkshire,
Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Clwyd, Cornwall, Derbyshire, Devon,
Dorset, Durham, Dyfed, East Sussex, Essex, Gloucestershire, Greater London,
Gwent, Hampshire, Hereford and Worcester, Hertfordshire, Humberside, Kent,
Lancashire, Leistershire, Lincolnshire, Mid Glamorgan, Norfolk, North Yorkshire,
Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Powys, Saint Helier, Saint Ouen, Saint Peter,
Scottish Borders, Somerset, South Glamorgan, South Yorkshire, Staffordshire,
Suffolk, Surrey, Warwickshire, West Galmorgan, West Midlands, West Sussex,
West Yorkshire, Wiltshire.
Find two Church Micros more than a certain distance apart (100 miles?).
You could also specify a time period, maybe that they have to be found on the same day.
Similarly, a variant of QR Challenge
but with only Church Micro caches allowed. (It very definitely is possible.)
An Alphabet challenge.
Excluding "X", as at November 2011, there are CM caches in places that start
with every other letter of the alphabet, though some are pretty rare.
This could be made a little easier by allowing Church and Saint names.
Of course, you could ask for less than the 25 theoretically possible
to make the challenge easier. Or, have a series: Bronze = 15, Silver = 20, Gold = 25.
Using the first letters of place names (and possibly Church and Saint names)
make a valid word such that its Scrabble score is a minimum value (at least 20?).
Obviously there would be no restriction on the length of word allowed.
A resuscitation type cache? Along the lines of
Surrey Resuscitator - Challenge Cache
but probably with a shorter time frame. Looking at my database on 19th December 2011 there were
110 unfound for over 3 months of which 18 unfound for 6 months of which 3 unfound for a year.
